The final leg of the shooting schedule of the film ‘Krishnaveni Panjaalai’ came to an end recently. The film deals with the lives of the cotton mill workers who toil it out and give their souls for almost nothing in return.
‘Krishnaveni…’ documents the turbulent phase from the late fifties till the early nineties of the thousands of mill workers who lived in the Udumalpet region of the erstwhile Coimbatore District. Along with the script, a soft romantic has been inter-woven to make the proceedings interesting. The typical factory-type surroundings, the families of all those workers, the Union meetings, etc. have been shot in the most natural manner possible.
The lives of the mill workers those days were not dissimilar to the lives of the software professionals of the presentgeneration: they were looked at in awe by the rest of the society in the 70’s and 80’s and the film aptly captures the pains, pitfalls and the pleasures the workers had to endure all along their lives.
Hemachandran plays the male lead opposite debutant heroine Nandana in ‘Krishnaveni…’. Rajeev Krishna, who played the hero in ‘Aaha’ almost a decade back, returns to big screen in a significant role with this film. Shanmugaraja, writer Ajayan Bala, Renuka, Balasinh, Poovitha, and Hemalatha form rest of the cast. Suresh Bhargav, an erstwhile assistant of Balumahendraa, handles the camera while Raghu Nandan (of ‘Tenmerku Paruvakaatru’ fame) scores the music to the lyrics by Vairamuthu.
Produced by Minveli Media Works, the film has been directed by Dhanapal Padmanabhan, who has also penned the story, screenplay and the script of the film. The film is co-produced by Dr. Shanthi Duraiswamy of Sakthi Masala and K. Pandiyarajan of MaFoi. The music of the movie is set to be released soon.
With an intriguing backdrop, attractive cinematography and a soft romance added with natural comedy sequences, ‘Krishnaveni…’ is all set to capture the hearts of movie-goers in a big way!
