TN: After the outbreak of dengue in Tamil Nadu, death toll of people has officially reached 80. Out of the 80 deaths, 40 are due to dengue and the other 40 are due to haemorrhagic fever or shock - a syndrome triggered by Dengue.
The Tamil Nadu health department has reportedly sent notices to 20,000 people to clear water from containers where mosquito worms and larvae are found. Health secretary Radha Krishnan reportedly said the people are given a 48-hours deadline to stay clear of the Dengue-creating environment. Those who fail to follow the orders can be jailed for 6 months and can be fined up to Rs 1 lakh, he reportedly warned.
According to reports, it has been revealed that 60% of posts for health inspector remains vacant. Apparently, out of 10,000 health inspectors, only 3,000 positions have been filled in Tamil Nadu.
